Heather Morris has been lollipop lady on the corner of Glebelands Road and Park Road, Sale for 45 years.

Crossing children for Park Road Primary School, Wellfield Infants and Wellfield Juniors, has been done rain or shine, along with a smile and her trademark phrase ‘alright sweethearts.’

Now Heather’s wonderful devotion to duty is being celebrated with her own mosaic.

It was unveiled at the corner, in front of the Cost-Cutter store, where Heather had stood for years and safely crossed thousands of children.

‘’Heather is marvel. We’ve got parents who she crossed when they were children, and now their children are crossing under Heather’s guidance. The mosaic is recognition from the Sale community, of her dedication, smiles and her wonderful personality,’’ says Zoe Taylor.

‘’Heather is a friend to every child she crosses.  Long may she continue to brighten up our children’s faces each and every morning and afternoon,” says Zoe,from the Sale arts Two By Two,partnership.

Two by Two have been working with the local schools and mosaic artist Tracey Cartledge to celebrate Heather’s achievement.

Funding for the mosaic has been done through Crowdfunding. All money raised was donations from local businesses, families and schools, including the Cost-Cutter store.

The mosaic design was inspired by drawings from the local school children who entered a competition to draw pictures about road safety, Heather and the local community.

The mosaic is inscribed with ‘Stop,Look and Listen’ and ‘alright sweethearts” as a tribute to Heather.
