A Sale tapas restaurant has revealed it will not be reopening its doors.

In a short statement posted on Facebook, El Boliche on Northenden Road confirmed rumours that the tapas restaurant on Northenden Road has closed. It said:

“El Boliche Tapas Bar
Has close it’s door
We thank, each one of our clients.
Adiós”
(sic)

The restaurant has been a stalwart of the Sale restaurant scene for a number of years, but has struggled since the pandemic.

The hospitality industry was hit hard by the unexpected blow of the pandemic in 2020. It’s tragic, but sadly not too surprising, that some places are just not going to make it, especially as retail rents in the area continue to substantially increase. Despite Sale’s regeneration, there is a very strong chance that the town’s hospitality landscape as we know it is set to change further in the coming months.

El Boliche’s closure comes in the same week as neighbouring restaurant Mustard also closed its Sale diner.

However, on a more positive note, Sale Today has also been covering quite a few stories in regard to new cafe, restaurant and bar openings recently, including Greens, Porta 134 and Rum Rabbit Run.

Nevertheless, now would be a good time to support your favourite local restaurants.
