Bigger, better – that’s the formula for success at the Sale Festival

Sale Festival 2016 is aiming to be bigger and better, with more events scheduled than ever before.

The Festival begins on June 4^th with a Farmers Market and a Canal Boat Parade organised by Sale Cruising Club, and runs through until June 29^th.

‘We hope we have got something that appeals to everyone. That is the theme for the Festival this year,” says Barry Brotherton, from the Sale Festival Committee.

The Festival runs throughout June ,with a busy schedule of forty events, including theatre shows like Big Girls Don’t Cry; art exhibitions, live music, with jazz performances like Lady Sings The Blues, the life story of Billy Holiday, and concerts with choirs like the Sale Male Choir and the Sale Choral Society.

“There is a rare performance from classical guitarist John Ogden; comedy nights with ComedySportz, a beer festival, a photographic competition involving Sale Photographic Society, and the Queen’s Tea Party, plus a picnic in the park, with everyone in invited,” said Barry.

One of the highlights of the Festival will be an open-air performance  in Walkden Gardens, of the David Walliams book, “Ratburger”. The adaptation of the book into a play with a musical score, will be performed whatever the weather, so bring your brollies or sunglasses.

‘’We want this Festival to really put Sale on the map. The excitement is building,” says Barry.  The Festival ends on June 29th with the Rocket Theatre performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, at Sale Grammar School.

Sale Waterside, including the Robert Bolt Theatre  is situated in the middle of Sale just a short distance from Sale Metrolink Station and is well served by bus routes.  “There is adequate parking nearby but please be aware that some of the residential streets are subject to a “Residents Only” parking scheme until 8pm.,”  said Barry.
