Metrolink commuters face further disruption to their journeys this Summer. Services will be suspended for nine weeks from June 26th until the end of August meaning there will be north/south cross city trams available.

Services of the Altrincham line will finish at Deansgate and Castlefield as work is carried out on improving the St Peter’s Square stop and also replacing sections of the track on the Eccles line.

Metrolink director, Peter Cushing, says the work at St Peter’s Square cannot be completed without full access to the site.   But commuters on the Brooklands, Sale and Dane Road stops already face disruption to the Altrincham to Manchester regular service.

Mr Cushing says:’We’re just months from opening a new, much bigger stop at St Peter’s Square that will be a game-changer for city centre services when the new Second City Crossing opens early next year.”
