Sale man confronts a burglar armed with a chisel in his home

A Sale man confronted a man armed with a chisel attempting to break in to his home on The Avenue.

A GMP spokesman said: “The man was disturbed by the occupant whilst breaking into a property on The Avenue in Sale.

” The occupant returned home to find a shattered window and the offender holding a chisel. The offender was startled upon being confronted and ran off towards Moss Lane at 10.40am yesterday.”

The male is described as white, in his thirties, wearing a grey Hoody top, grey sweat pants and a shaven head.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to this incident and who have any information please report to 101 or anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
