Sale defied the wet weather to have a right Royal knees-up to celebrate the Queen’s official 90th Birthday at the weekend.

Five streets had requested a licence to run a street party in honour of the Queen and had fun despite the weather.

And people going to the Roebuck Lane street party rubbed their eyes in disbelief as one VIP turned out to be a life size cardboard cut out of the Queen.

Over on Carlyn Avenue in Sale Moor there was bowlers, brollies and balloons and a Royal toast.

And on Waverley Road they put up marquee’s and tents to ensure the party went ahead,

And red, white and blue balloons were the order of the day as the whole street came out to enjoy the party.

There’s still two remaining official street parties  to come next weekend.
