A32-year-old woman has been injured in the second major collision on the A56 this week.

Police were called to the junction of Washway Road at its junction with Langdale Road, close to the recently relocated Co-op store, at around 3.30pm.

The woman was said to have been in collision with a red Peugeot 207.

A number of emergency services were called and the woman was taken to hospital.

It’s understood that footage of the incident has been captured by CCTV at the Co-op.

The extent of the woman’s injuries is currently unknown.

The incident has caused major congestion in both directions and motorists are advised to avoid the A56 around Sale and West Timperley completely.

It’s the second major collision involving a young woman pedestrian and a car this week, following Monday’s fatal accident close to the Park Road junction.
