Sale Sharks have announced a crucial signing of Welsh International Lock Lou Reed on a two year contract. It is hoped that Lou will make a huge impact in the scrum for Sharks – an area they needed strengthening for the coming season.
Born in Treorchy, Lou started his career at the Celtic Warriors before joining Scarlets where he played over 100 games. He joined Cardiff in 2012 and has represented the Blues on 40 occasions including 17 games last season.
Lou was named in the 45 man training squad for the 2015 World Cup and made his full international debut against Scotland in February 2012. Lou went on to play against the Wallabies in the autumn tests at the Millennium Stadium and was part of the 2013 Wales team that went on to win the 6 Nations Championship. Reed also toured Japan with Wales in the summer of 2013.
Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said, “ Lou came highly recommended by Dwayne Peel. He is a big physical guy – 6ft 6ins and 120kg – who will be a very abrasive addition to the squad.”
Lou said, “ After playing for Cardiff and Scarlets I am really looking forward to playing for Sale Sharks in the Premiership. I have been training all week and have been welcomed by everyone at the club.”
