Be prepared – leave the umbrellas at home, and look forward to singing in the rain ….as heavy rain showers are expected.
That’s the advice for fans travelling to see the Rihanna show at the open air concert at the Emirates Old Trafford ground tonight.
Brollies are NOT allowed at the concert for safety reasons.
A Lancashire County Cricket Club spokesman said: “Unfortunately it looks like the Manchester rain will be with us but we are sure this won’t dampen the spirits of Rihanna fans who will have a great time at Emirates Old Trafford.
“In line with other concert venues, umbrellas won’t be allowed to be brought into the stadium. This is for safety reasons and so that it doesn’t spoil the viewing for other fans.
“We strongly advise visitors to wear appropriate clothing for the expected weather conditions.”
The singer brings her Anti World Tour to the home of cricket in the North West and her fans are hoping she has an “extra” guest – boyfriend Drake. The twosome have been in London in the last few days.
The organisers of the concert are warning people to get there early and travel by Metrolink to avoid parking congestion. Trams will be running from Altrincham to Old Trafford.
Tickets should be purchased from on-stop ticket machines in advance of boarding or via the get me there app www.getmethere.co.uk.
Due to essential work on both the Eccles via MediaCityUK line and in St Peter’s Square there are currently no north to south cross city trams operating.
