Police appeal for witnesses after a burglary in Sale last night.

A house was broken into in Beechfield Close, in Sale, yesterday evening and several items were stolen.

A GMP spokesman said:”A burglary occurred yesterday evening on Beechfield Close. The thieves have forced open the front door and stolen items from within.

“If anyone saw anything suspicious or has any information please ring 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
