A Sale mum is launching a new way for mums to get back to fitness….and baby comes too.

The ‘This Mum Can Fitness’ regime is a gym-free, personal training session which encourages Mums to train with her babies and toddlers present and can be as little as £4 per session.

With many gyms tying members into contracts not to mention trying to find childcare while you sweat it out surrounded by the body beautiful men and women who haven’t spent the last nine months carrying a baby, Becca Broadbent offers an alternative which is rich in company, sound advice and fresh air.

Becca had the idea after she was made redundant on maternity leave with her second baby.

“I was working in a HR department, and I thought well this is a challenge, having two kids and no job, but decided to use it as an opportunity to do something that I love and am really passionate about…and so This Mum Can Fitness was born…

“I’ve become a personal trainer to help Mums get back to fitness after having their little ones. After going through my very own battle back to fitness after having both babies, my aim is to now help others Mums go through their journey” says Becca.

“Pregnancy is mostly a joyful experience, but there can be a price to pay, especially for Mums. Recovering your fitness and waistline, and self-confidence and self-esteem, can be tough.

“Especially in this modern world of celebrity mothers who influence fashions, clothes and make having a baby seem so simple, it induces panic, even depression, among young Mums who are left feeling helpless at home,” says Becca, who organises her sessions currently in Sale and soon moving to parks in Urmston and Altrincham.

“Life with kids is extremely busy, and complicated for most of us, and you never see the army of support that usually accompanies the celebrity mums.

“That’s why I have launched This Mum Can Fitness sessions. The focus is on getting Mums back to fitness through group training sessions at the same time and place every week.

“Each session will focus on improving fitness levels, working the core muscles and having fun! I want to help Mum’s on their fitness journey, but I also want to help them meet new people, make new friends, get some support, and get active. From personal experience, getting out and doing some exercise can really improve your mood and help you through the craziness which ensues when a newborn baby arrives.”

Pregnancy can provide problems, especially after the birth. Says Becca: “I put on a LOT of weight with both babies – can’t really tell you why (cake had a little to do with it!) but I have managed to lose all of it – twice!

“It was no walk in the park – literally!!. A little part of it was down to my personal determination, but primarily it was the way I did it.  Twelve weeks after having my daughter, I joined a fitness class and this was the start of my journey. It took me nine months but I finally got to my pre-pregnancy weight and fitted into my old jeans and I was hooked with the exercise bug! I have even learned to love running – it took a while – but it’s now one of my favourite things

“I now want to help Mums on their own fitness journeys and meet their own goals and at the same time, give them the opportunity that I had – to be able to meet new people, get some support and get active.

“My aim is to make personal training affordable to everyone and help Mums realise their potential.

‘The whole ethos is about making Mums realise they can do anything, be anyone and like me, surprise themselves.

Her fitness sessions take place in the parks at Urmston and Sale’s Worthington Park, come rain or shine. Becca believes very strongly that having your baby or toddler along can be a really important part of the fitness process as it makes it so accessible to everyone.

“The babies love it when the Mums take them out in the buggies, as part of the session, for a gentle jog, and the Mums feel empowered exercising with their babies and toddlers present.”

Becca, who is a Level 3 qualified personal trainer, specialising in pre and post-natal fitness, is now planning her to add to her weekly sessions. She offers a ladies only exercise class at Sale Sports Club on a Wednesday evening and has just started a “Beginners Running Club” which is based on a Couch to 5k training plan, which is on a Monday night.

She also offers 1-t0-1 and group gym-free personal training sessions which are more tailor-made to suit each individual Mum –trying to make personal training affordable for every budget.
