Hunt is on for two men after Ashton on Mersey burglary foiled

The hunt is on for two men who tried to break in to a house in Totnes Road, in Ashton on Mersey.

The thieves were disturbed by a neighbour as they tried to carry out the burglary. A spokesman for GMP said:” Police were called to reports of a burglary at Totnes Road yesterday at 4.30pm.

”Two men smashed a window of the back door of the house and tried to get inside but the would-be thieves fled after being disturbed by a neighbour. The men are described as white, wearing grey hoodies and black trousers.”

Anyone with information about this crime should contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
