Sale Golf Club might need to get a new trophy cabinet before the year is out after another impressive victory – this time on home greens.
Just a few weeks after their victory in the Archie Preston Trophy the club now have the Hancock Trophy in their possession after some nail biting golf.
Sale played host to the annual Alliance Mixed BB Stableford event where the stars of the day were Sale Captain David Moore and Cynthia Hammond who posted a 44 points to win the Am-Am section and with it the coveted Hancock Trophy.
They finished five points clear of Blackley’s Darren Tickle and Lisa Liddle who in turn beat Jimmy O’Reilly and Fran Jukes of Swinton Park.
Home pro Mike Stewart and his partner the Sale Lady Captain Maria Walmsley won the Pro-Am section – Mike’s first win in the Alliance since he became the Sale professional 25 years ago.
Next in were Lymm’s Graham Cox and Lottie Makin ahead of Ringway’s David Brunton and Deb Quealey.
Last month the club won the Archie Preston Trophy for the first time in it’s history after a nail-biting extra hole finish.
Earlier this year the Ladies section won the Mersey Shield and the Men’s 1st and 2nd teams retained the Mersey League.
