[dropcap type”circles”]Police  have issued a warning  after three women were approached and propositioned by a man in separate incidents  in the Sale, Ashton on Mersey and Timperley areas.

A GMP spokesman said:”  We received the first report between 10pm and 10.20pm on Park Road in Timperley, where a 38-year-old woman had been walking alone. She was approached by a man on a bicycle who blocked her path and asked her if she wanted to go somewhere with him. The woman attempted to leave, but the man followed her before he fled in the direction of Washway Road.

“The second incident happened at about 11.05pm on the same evening, when a 29-year-old woman was jogging on Harboro Road in Sale when a man approached her and blocked her path. He made a comment, suggesting that she went with him. The woman, feeling distressed, ran to a nearby house and called the police.

“Shortly after this, and before 11.20pm, a man approached a 17-year-old girl on Ashton Lane at the junction of Church Lane  in Ashton on Mersey and inappropriately propositioned her. She tried to leave but he pulled at her rucksack and clothes. She managed to escape and the offender fled. ”

The mother of that teenager tweeted about the incident as soon as her daughter got home.  She had had the presence of mind to call her mum to say the man was following her so her mum could come out a meet her..

As she met her daughter she described how the man walked on by but glanced over his shoulder at them.

She said:”He was very persistent and extremely inappropriate – he followed her to our house too.

“She was very shaken up but I’m determined to make sure she feels safe to go where she wants when she wants despite this horrible incident.”

Her tweet included a detailed description of the man  which we have outlined above.

Police believe the same man was responsible for all three incidents  and was intent on targeting lone women, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Carl Gilbert of GMP’s Trafford Borough said: “The victims were left extremely scared and distressed after being targeted by, who we believe, is the same man.

“People will be understandably concerned and I assure you that we have a dedicated team of detectives working to catch the offender and extra officers on patrol in the area.

“Everyone has the right to go about their daily lives without fear of being targeted and help and support will always be there for people who want to come forward and report offences.”

“If you have any concerns at all or want to speak to someone to pass on information you can contact police on 0161 856 4081, 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Police are not issuing a description of the man at the moment.
