A Sale teacher is critically ill in China and his family is facing huge medical bills to bring home.
Adam Henshall Jones, had a fall while out shopping on Friday, and was taken to hospital where doctor’s carried out an emergency operation after a scan revealed he had three blood clots on his brain. Adam is intensive care with his wife Zhiyuan Geng is at his bedside.
His distraught family in Sale launched a crowd-funding appeal in a bid to meet medical bills. His family say that because Adam is living in China he is not covered by any medical insurance.
“The family has been shattered by what’s happened to Adam’ It is so worrying at the moment. He has been taken into intensive care because he keeps having seizures, and the hospital are limiting Zhiyuan to visit for one hour a day. We are going out of our minds with worry,” said Kate Henshall-Jones, Adam’s sister-in-law.
Now his parents, Carl and Karen Henshall-Jones, from Sale, are trying to get visas from the China embassy to fly out to the hospital in Anhui tomorrow.
Adam has been living and working as an English teacher in China, for the last eighteen months.
The medical bills are expected to be in the region of £30,000, and could be much more.
‘We just don’t know at the present time. We’ve launched a JustGiving page and we’ve had a brilliant response from people who know Adam in Sale and complete strangers. I would like to say a special thank you to them,” said Kate. “We want to try and raise any money we can to help Adam and his parents to fund any of his care. The recovery from this first operation is three months so you can imagine the spiralling costs his parents are facing. It’s a living nightmare for us all. We would appreciate any help.”
Adam went to Tyntesfield Primary School in Alma Road in Sale and the Ashton on Mersey School. He has been married four years.
Kate added: “It’s just a terrible situation. Adam and Zhiyuan had been saving to move back to the UK because they missed everyone so much.
“Now they are having to spend all their savings on Adam’s healthcare and it still won’t be enough. If people want to contribute to Adam’s fund they can do so at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/kate-henshall-jones?utm_id=108&utm_term=w76K6AAkD”
