The parents of a critically ill Sale teacher are flying out to China to keep a bedside vigil at his hospital.
Adam Henshall-Jones remains in the intensive care unit after suffering from blood clots on the brain. Adam, who has been teaching English to Chinese students, collapsed while shopping with his wife on Friday and was rushed to hospital.
”The family is trying to rally around. Everyone is very concerned and upset. His parents Carl and Karen Henshall-Jones, from Sale, are flying out overnight to China, and hope to be at the hospital at Anhui, on Thursday,”said Kate Henshall-Jones, Adam’s sister-in-law.
“Adam has shown some improvement in his condition today, but the next five days are very important for him. He is recovering from an operation to relieve the bleeding in his brain. His wife, Zhiyuan Geng has been with him throughout.
“She sent us this picture of Adam in hospital today.”
“Because China has no national health service and Adam has no medical insurance we have launched a crowdfunding page to try to help with the medical bills. We think the medical fees will be about £30,000 or more. It is quite devastating.” said Kate.
“The British consulate has been informed and they are advising that when Adam recovers we bring him home – but there is a long way to go before then.”
Adam has been living and working as an English teacher in China, for the last eighteen months.
Kate said:”We’ve launched a JustGiving page and we’ve had a brilliant response from people who know Adam in Sale and complete strangers. I would like to say a special thank you to them,” said Kate. “We want to try and raise any money we can to help Adam and his parents to fund any of his care. The recovery from this first operation is three months so you can imagine the spiralling costs his parents are facing. It’s a living nightmare for us all. We would appreciate any help.”
Adam went to Tyntesfield Primary School in Alma Road in Sale and the Ashton on Mersey School. He has been married four years.
