Police have issued an urgent warning to beware of bogus collectors operating in the Sale West area.

A spokesman for GMP said: ” Yesterday we received a report of two males knocking on doors on Catterick Avenue in Sale asking for donations on behalf of Barnado’s Charity. The informant suspected this to be a scam after being asked for her bank details.

“We have made enquiries with the Barnardo’s Charity who have confirmed that this was not genuine as there were no agents in the area.

“Both males were white, wearing smart trousers, one of the males was wearing glasses. ”

The police spokesman gave this warning:”Always be mindful when opening the door to strangers and never do business with door to door Salespeople.”
