Gold, silver and bronze medals galore in the European championships for the Ashton on Mersey Aikido Club

The Renshinkan Manchester Aikido club based in Ashton upon Mersey High School returned with a record medal haul after the European Championships at the weekend.

They won four gold medals, one silver and ten bronze medals, and picked up the trophy for the best individual performance in the under 10’s group.

Over two days the Junior team competed in various team and individual events across under 8’s, under 10’s, under 13’s, under 16’s.

 “We’re very proud of the club and its huge success this year,” said Steve Evans who teaches at the club. Steve is a former world champion and 4th Dan sensei (http://www.shodokan.org.uk/steve-evans/

The club holds classes for adults and juniors  who attended the National Aikido Championships in June and came away with a haul of medals and trophies. On the back of this success they entered into the Junior European Aikido Championships (held every 2yrs) which this year was held in Sheffield.
