The Annual Poppy Appeal is underway and organisers hope to exceed the £34,000 raised last year in Sale.

On Saturday last The Mayor, Cllr. Mrs. Judith Lloyd, raised the Royal British Legion flag over Sale Town Hall to signal the start of the 2016 Poppy Appeal.  Representatives from the Legion, Poppy collection volunteers along with Officers and Cadets from the Air Training Corps (318 Sale Squadron) were in attendance.

The organisers are hoping for a huge response from the Sale community
The Poppy Appeal for 2016 is underway
The flag will fly over the Town Hall for the duration of the Appeal. The appeal will last for two weeks from 27th October – poppies and a variety of “poppy merchandise” will be available from volunteer street collectors and can also be purchased throughout Sale at shops, banks, bars and restaurants etc.   A “Poppy Stall” will be held in the Shopping Mall each Saturday of the appeal where all poppy appeal items can be purchased.

The general public in Sale are huge supporters of the Poppy Appeal raising over £34,000 for the 2015 appeal to support the cause.  Donations are vital to allow the work of the Legion to continue – it provides  medical, financial and general support to those members of the armed forces who suffer injuries whilst serving their country and to families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Annual Service of Remembrance will be held at the Sale War Memorial, outside Sale Town Hall on Sunday 13th November at 10:45am with hundreds of Sale residents  expected to be in attendance.
