Water taxis have begun their trial runs on Bridgewater Canal, completing their epic journey from the boatbuilders in Shanghai in China.

A trial service is going ahead this week and then the service will be officially launched on November 21.
Manchester Water Taxis will run a service from Sale to Castlefield and will also run a service to the Trafford Centre via Old Trafford and Hotel Football, terminating at Dukes 92, Castlefield.
“We’ve all waited for this day to come. Its a dream come true. We all hope that this is the start of something new that will be here for a long time. We have big expansion plans for the service, and hope to run a service on the Manchester Ship Canal eventually,” said Steve Cadwell.
Steve formed the company – Manchester Water Taxis – in 2009 – but it has taken almost seven years of work to get the boats on the water.
