Police warning over seasonal spike in burglaries in Sale as a BMW car stolen overnight

There is a seasonal spike in burglaries in the Trafford South area and police are reminding residents to be extra vigilant in the run up to Christmas.

“We are experiencing a spike in burglaries, offenders are breaking into properties in the hope of a helping themselves to a ‘shopping spree’ in your home, Please remain vigilant. Utilise timers on your lights, use your house alarm,” said a spokesman for GMP, who urged people to also look  out for their neighbours.

The latest burglary occurred overnight in Arcadia Drive in Brooklands, where a Grey BMW 320 M Sport, registration number MT64 ENM, was taken along with several items from the house.  ”

 “Offender(s) have smashed a double glazed unit in the back door and climbed into the property, stealing items from within including the homeowners vehicle, which is still currently outstanding. Any information regarding this incident please ring 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111” said the spokesman.

It follows on from burglaries reported in the last 24 hours. A spokesman for GMP went on to say: “There are reports of a house in Almond Drive, in Sale was burgled, and items stole within. There was an attempted burglary at  Springfield Primary School, Sale,  There was a window smashed, but no entry gained.  There was an attempted burglary in Washway Road, but the thieves left empty-handed after attempting to unscrew the conservatory door..

On their Facebook page for GMP Trafford South the police say:”We haven’t provided periods of time as this can expose these properties for a ‘re-visit’ by the offenders.  We would like to reassure residents of Trafford South, patrol plans are in place regarding current hot spot burglary areas.”
