Sale man mugged in lift after getting off the Metrolink tram in rush hour

Police are appealing for help in trying to track down two men who mugged a commuter in a lift after he got off  the tram at Sale Metrolink station  during the rush hour last night.

”The incident happened in the lift at the station  at 5pm last night. The victim had just got off the tram and the two men were waiting inside the lift,” said a GMP spokesman.

One of the men pinned the man by his throat against the lift and demanded money.  The two men fled when the lift doors opened .

Police have issued a description of the two men.  The first is described as aged between 18 and 20, around 5ft9, of mixed race and average build. He had short dreadlocks and was wearing a large grey jacket.     The second man was white, around 5ft8, scrawny build, short brown hair, and he was wearing a green jacket.
