Dog lovers from all over Sale joined the ‘Awareness Walk For Alfie”  at Sale Water Park today.

They were showing solidarity with the family of the Jack Russell terrier who has been missing since 30th October.  Alfie was frightened by fireworks while out walking and ran away.

There have been sightings, notably the area around River Lane, in Partington on November 2nd  and near to the entrance to the Sale Water Park.  Since then his owners, the Collier family, have appealed to dog lovers in a poster and leaflet campaign, and launched Facebook and Twitter pages, to try and find him.

”The Awareness walk was to raise his profile once again,” said Michael Collier.

Together with friends, family and strangers moved by his story, they have tried to find him themselves by going out at night in areas where there may have been sightings. Yet despite that and a huge campaign on social media Alfie remains lost.

Nearly fifty dog owners took part in the walk around the Sale Water Park. It was an opportunity to present leaflets and posters to other dog walkers, and members of the public.

“There’s a good chance that Alfie has been taken in by someone now, but they don’t know where he comes from. We are asking people to take a good look at his photos, and to check with their neighbours.”
