New Year burglary gets 2017 to a bad start in Sale

New Year got off to a sad start for the residents of a house in The Avenue, Sale.

Their home was broken into on the evening of New Year’s Day. Police say the offenders used a paving slab to smash through a patio door at the back of the house.

According to the police they then stole a car from the property which has yet to be found. It was a grey Mercedes E2200 registration number GD65 KYU.

Police are appealing to anayone with information about the incident to get in touch with them.

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
