[Police are warning the public to be on their guard over a team of thieves operating in the Sale and Altrincham areas,  after they stole a large amount of life savings from a vulnerable pensioner at the weekend.

They offered to jet wash his drive.  Last week we reported on bogus callers in the Glenthorn Grove area of Sale.

They are thought to be using a distinctive white transit van with roof rack and orange stripes along the top and bottom of the vehicle.

A GMP spokesman said:”The males were described as white with Irish accents. The vehicle was in the Altrincham area between Friday 13th and Monday 16th January.”

Last week there were three men operating outside the van, with two men in the cab.

“Please remain vigilant and if you have any information regarding the vehicle or occupants, please contact Altrincham Police on 0161 856 7530 for attention of PC Collier 13775.

“Please be wary and warn your neighbours. Never do business with door to door salesmen/workmen. If you have any information please report to 101.’
