Sale Sharks flying winger Denny Solomona is now eligible to play for England after receiving notification from the RFU.

That’s brilliant news for Eddie Jones, the England coach, who will hoping Denny keeps up the fantastic form which has seen him score nine tries since he joined Sale in December from Castleford Tigers.

Speaking on his decision to choose England over his other options, Denny said, “I think it just came down to circumstances. They change, I enjoy playing here, I’ve been here three years and it’s the choice I want to make. I confided in my coaches and my family and they support me, so I’ll do whatever.”

However Denny is not getting carried away with his eligibility to play for England and said, “At this stage, I’m just trying to concentrate on one job and that’s here at Sale Sharks week in week out.  I just want to focus on what I need to work on, and if it comes of, great,. If it doesn’t it doesn’t. There’s always next year, and the year after. I’m just trying to enhance my skills as a Rugby Union player, and I’ve got Paul Deacon and Mike Forshaw here to help me out.

Denny continued,” Everyone works hard at what they need to do, I like to think I’ve worked hard for it too. It comes down to the lads in the middle you’ve got Josh Beaumont, Will Addison, Sam James, Josh Charnley & Mike Haley out there. If you’ve got that sort of strike power in your side, then you’re going to get tries. “

Talking about his arrival at Sale Sharks Denny said, “I watched a lot of clips of my  teammates before I joined, and I tried to evolve my game around them, and they can evolve around me. You can throw anyone anywhere, and they’ll slot in. We like to chuck the ball around. We’re very physical and I like that. Everyone wants to make their hits.”

On settling in at Sharks, he said, “Overall it’s been good, the staff have been wonderful, the boys have been so welcoming, and if it wasn’t for the boys being welcoming, then it could have been a nightmare. The fans here have been outstanding, they’ve taken me on as their own, so credit to them. I do my best for the fans and club. I walk around Carrington, and everyone is friendly, and smiling at you. That’s what’s made me love this joint, lots of friendly faces. “
