Police warning about a man who is operating a scam in the Sale area

Police are warning that a fraudster is preying on members of the public in Sale.

The man, aged in his 50’s, is asking for money to buy petrol to visit his sick father in hospital.

A GMP spokesman said: “The man is operating a scam. Please avoid giving cash to this man.”

Police said a man was operating a very similar scam in the town last year, asking for money and using his sick father as an excuse.

The spokesman added:”If he does approach you, please report this to police on the 101 number

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
