Trafford Trading Standards are holding a ‘Friends Against Scams’ event on May 4th in Sale in conjunction with the National Scams Team.
Scams affect the lives of millions of people across the UK and scams come in many forms; by email, letter, and telephone or in person. All make false promises that aim to con victims out of money. Scams are targeted at people of all ages, backgrounds and income levels.
“In Trafford we have dealt with scam victims who have lost tens of thousands of pounds to scammers,” said a GMP spokesman.
Trading Standards are inviting everyone to the launch event of Friends Against Scams – to find out how to protect yourself and prevent your family, friends, service users or staff from becoming victims of scams.
The event is free and light refreshments will be available.
The event is on Thursday 4th May, 10am-1pm at Sale West Community Centre, Newbury Avenue, Sale, M33 4QW
