Scrambler bike seized by police on canal towpath in Sale

A scrambler bike has been seized by police in the centre of Sale on the towpath of the Bridgewater Canal.

A GMP spokesman said:”The bike was seized after we received reports of it travelling at high speed on the canal bank close to Sale Waterside.

“The rider had no thought for other pedestrians and children at around midday on the narrow canal path.

The scrambler bike was seized on the towpath in Sale

“PCSO Stubbs blocked the canal path and stopped the bike and the young male rider made off on foot. The bike was seized and is most likely going to be crushed.

“Please report off road bikes to our 101 number, providing as much description as you can for the rider and the bike.”

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:

In honour of the allied airmen whose aircraft crashed on this site 3rd August 1943
