Two cars stolen after house burglary in Ashton on Mersey

Two cars were stolen in a burglary on a house in Ashton on Mersey this morning.

The cars, both Audis, were taken after thieves, smashed their way into the home through the rear patio doors.

A spokesman for GMP said:”Two cars have been stolen during an overnight burglary on St. Martins Road in Ashton on Mersey. Thieves gained access to the house by smashing the rear patio doors, the occupier discovered the theft just after 4am this morning.

“The registration numbers are :- MF16 GHD, a grey Audi S3 and MF16 GGO, blue Audi A1.

“Please call us on 101 if you spot these vehicles or have any information.”

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:

In honour of the allied airmen whose aircraft crashed on this site 3rd August 1943
