Hundreds of people enjoyed a “Picnic in the Park” in Moor Nook park, Sale Moor at the weekend organised by The Friends of Moor Nook Park.
Children enjoyed the games and bouncy castle while for adults there were stalls selling cakes and drinks, as well as arts and crafts and a tombola.
‘Enoch’s Hammer,’ a Ceilidh band, also performed throughout the event from 12 – 3pm. The country dance band have been together for 23 years and hail from various places from Sale to Huddersfield. They kept the audience entertained and taught them dances.
Emma Dobson, chair of The Friends of Moor Nook Park, said: “We started the Friends group about a year ago, and we did a survey of local residents, and one of the things that came up time and time again was events in the park. We did an event in the autumn which brought lots of people out, and that had a really nice atmosphere so we thought we’d do it again in the summer.”
Another event is planned for the autumn with a professional storyteller.
The Friends of Moor Nook Park also enjoyed further success at the Sale Lion’s Father’s Day fête at Worthington Park where they secured funding for future events, voted for by residents.
