The bees will be buzzing when the Moor Nook Allotment and Gardening Society holds an open day at the allotments this Sunday.
The free event, from 12 noon – 2.30pm, will feature a children’s ‘bee’ fancy dress competition, as well as a bee keeping demonstration, and lots of activities for all the family.
There will be a nature reserve and wildflower meadow for plant enthusiasts.
There will also be a plant and produce sale, cake stand and cream teas. Prizes will be up for grabs in a prize draw, including an inkjet printer.
The Moor Nook community hope to repeat the success of their open day last autumn, which included arts and crafts, games and a barbecue for people in the community. The allotments can be accessed from the park or Victoria Road entrance.
The allotments won the prize of ‘most improved site in the borough’ from Trafford Council and the Royal Horticulture Society in 2012.
