First World War memorial finds a final resting place in Sale

[dropcap type “circles]A special service to bless a First World War Memorial will be held at St Paul’s Parish Church in Springfield Road, in Sale.

The memorial used to be on display at the Evangelical Church, Kelsall Street Mission Hall – but the church was demolished and the memorial had to be rescued from the bulldozers.

Now a special Service of Choral Evensong will take place on Sunday July 30th, and the memorial will be received into the Church and Blessed.

The Service is part of the Churches Together in Sale, fifth Sunday programme of Quarterly Ecumenical Services, and will be attended by the Mayor and Mayoress.

All are invited to attend this special service.

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:

In honour of the allied airmen whose aircraft crashed on this site 3rd August 1943
