While most of us are still hoping for Summer to arrive, venues throughout the area are thinking ahead to their Autumn and Winter listings.

The Waterside Arts Centre has just published the run down for the new season and beyond which includes a varied menu which should suit most tastes.

As well as the mainstream entertainment on offer the Centre will stage a number of events as past of Black History Month, the Manchester Science Festival and the Women in Comedy Festival.

A spokesperson for the Centre said: “Celebrating 30 years since the release the original film A Night of Dirty Dancing will have you up on your feet, or perhaps something a little more laid back with Soul Sessions of Nina Simone is more your thing.

“For theatre lovers, there is classic Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and A Christmas Carol or contemporary Chopping Chillies and The Value of Nothing.

“There will be some famous faces on the UK comedy scene coming to Sale this autumn including Mark Thomas and Michelle McManus returns in November with the second in her trilogy of hilarious one-woman shows.”

The family Christmas show will be Raymond Brigg’s The Bear!, plus there will be a family friendly host of exhibitions with one  featuring the characters  of Cosgrove Hall including Danger Mouse, Bill and Ben the Flower Pot Men,  and Noddy.
