Police divers in the Bridgewater canal as part of their for search for missing Caspar

Police divers  have been searching the waters of the Bridgewater canal as part of their inquiries to locate missing Caspar Blackburn who hasn’t been seen since the weekend.

This image of the water search was taken by narrowboat owners who watched as officers entered the water at the back of Springfield Primary School just after 3.30pm this afternoon.

Caspar, 22, who has been missing since he was at the Waterside in Sale on Saturday night.  His friends took to Facebook yesterday to ask people to share the details of him.

Tonight Detective Inspector Carl Gilbert said: “The search of the canal is in relation to our search, but one of many lines of enquiry.The family are aware we were conducting that search of the canal.”

Caspar was last seen in Sale around 0215 on Sunday at the Slug and Lettuce Bar.  He is described as about  5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build with ginger hair in a swept style.   He was last seen wearing a light blue polo shirt,  blue jeans and brown smart shoes.

Caspar Blackburn hasn’t been seen since the early hours of Sunday morning

Earlier today DI Gilbert said:”Caspar has not been seen now since Sunday and this is completely out of character for him.

“His family are extremely worried about him and I would urge you to get in touch with police if you see Caspar or know where he is.”

His car remains outside his friend’s house where it has been since Saturday.  His friend Billy Hayes said on Facebook: “Anyone who knows Caspar will know he doesn’t like leaving his car anywhere, he’s not been home and his mobile phone is off. No one has been able to get hold of him, his mum is worried sick.”

A number of friends and his family went out last night to look for him along the routes he could have taken in the early hours the morning.
