The family of Caspar Blackburn has thanked everyone for their messages of support and condolences after it was confirmed that the body found in the canal at the weekend was Caspar.
The family statement said on their Just Giving page set up to raise money for his funeral costs said:”Caspar was tragically and unexpectedly taken away from us at the age of 22. He went out in Sale for a night out… and never came home before being found in the canal on October 7 2017.
“He was such a young, kind hard working soul and car enthusiast who would help anyone.”
Mr Blackburn said they had had so many offers of help and donations that they decided to set up the page. They set the limit at £2,200 because Caspar was 22, but said the funeral was expected to cost an average of £5,000. Twenty four hours on the total was nearer £7,000 and rising.
Leader of the Council, Sean Anstee paid tribute to Caspar today and said ‘It has been devastating to hear the tragic news … Since being reported missing, many in our communities were very concerned for Casper’s welfare and will have dreaded this outcome.
“On behalf of Trafford Council, I would like to express my sincere condolences to Casper’s family and friends at this extremely difficult and distressing time for them.’
