Apartments for sale on old Waggon and Horses site – they could qualify for the Government’s Help to Buy scheme

Wagon + Maple

Thirty-four new apartments  which have been built on the site of the old Waggon and Horses pub on Washway Road are now available to buy.

The Waggon and Horses was one of Sale’s oldest pubs but it’s now home to Maple Court which comprises 24 two-bedroom apartments, six two-bedroom duplex apartments  and four one-bedroom apartments which range in price from £122,995 for a one-bedroom apartment to £210,995 for the two-bedroom duplex apartments.

The new development from Laurus Homes will also feature retail units on the Cross Street-facing ground floor. Although available now the full development is due for completion in January 2018.

The developers describe the apartments  as modern and contemporary.  For those needing help getting on the property ladder, the government’s Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme will be available.

With a Help to Buy: Equity Loan the Government lends you up to 20% of the cost of your newly built home, so you’ll need a 5% cash deposit and a 75% mortgage to make up the rest.

You won’t be charged loan fees on the 20% loan for the first five years of owning your home.  More details of the scheme can be found here https://www.helptobuy.gov.uk/equity-loan/equity-loans/

Work on the site began in 2015 and was seen as an imaginative scheme for regenerating disused flats and shops on the site.

Larry Gold, Deputy Chief Executive of Trafford Housing Trust, said:“The M33 postcode was recently voted as one of England’s most desirable places to live due to its proximity to good schools, access to green spaces and good employment prospects.

“Maple Court also benefits from fantastic transport links; a bus stop on the routes into Manchester City Centre is located directly outside Maple Court, with the development also being situated close to both Dane Road and Sale Metrolink stations, the M60 and Manchester International Airport.

“The combination of a great location, convenient amenities and services, quality of life, and the high standard of accommodation with which the Laurus name has become synonymous over the last two years, means these flats will be in very high demand.”

Homes at the Maple Court site are now available and people wanting to register an interest can do so via www.laurushomes.co.uk.

**We’d like to hear from you if you think this is the kind of price which can help people on to the property ladder, even with the Government Scheme.  Or do you still think a 5% cash deposit is the stuff of dreams?  Leave us your comment here or on our Facebook page.
