Graham Brady, Conservative MP for Altrincham and Sale West has been knighted in the New Year’s Honours for political and public service.
Sir Graham has been MP for the seat since 1997 when he became the youngest Conservative MP at that time.
He was elected Chairman of the 1922 Committee of backbench Conservative MPs after the 2010 General Election. The Committee is the main point of contact between backbench Tories and the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, advising the PM about the mood of the rank and file of the party.
Meanwhile an OBE has been awarded to Lou Cordwell from Sale, who is Chief Executive Officer, of Magnetic North, for services to the Creative and Digital Economy.
Ms Cordwell was founder of magneticNorth, an award winning, independent digital design company based in Manchester which has worked for clients including the BBC, Google and the City of Manchester.
