Fire and Rescue Service find a body after being called to a shed fire in Northern Moor

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have found a body this afternoon when they were called to a shed fire in Northern Moor.

A joint Police and Fire investigation began when police were called to the fire shortly after  1 pm at an address in Mossdale Road.

The body was found in the shed after the fire was brought under control and extinguished. It is not known whether the body is a man or a woman at this stage of the investigation.

Inspector  John Picton, of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said:”First and foremost I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family who have lost a loved one. It very early in our investigation but we are working closely with the fire service to find out exactly what happened.  I would ask anyone who saw something, or has any information about what happened to please contact the police on 101 quoting incident number 962 21/05/18, or make a report through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111″
