Five people are seriously injured as car collides with them at Trafford Park

Five people were seriously injured and taken to hospital when a car hit them as they were standing in Europa Way in Trafford Park last night.

A 21-year-old man was arrested after the blue BMW hit a crowd of people on Europa Way at 9.50pm on Thursday.Police confirmed he remains in police custody this morning.

Five people were taken to hospital by the ambulance service where they remain in a serious condition. A blue BMW 330 believed to be involved in the collision did not stop at the scene and was found by officers in the Salford area

This morning Europa Way remains taped off by police and there are several police vehicles parked in the road.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with further information to come forward to help with the investigation.

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
