Police appeal to trace relatives after Sale death

Police are appealing for help in trying to trace relatives of a man from Sale who died on Sunday.

“Edward Sawkins, 73, sadly died at his home on Marsland Road in Sale.

“There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances around his death. Now we are appealing to the public to help trace his next-of-kin.

“Anyone with information about Edward is asked to contact the Police Coroner’s Office on 0161 856 7978,” said a GMP spokesperson.

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
