Woman rescued after falling in the Bridgewater canal in Sale town centre

Awoman was rescued by the emergency services last night after falling in the Bridgewater Canal.

It is believed the woman fell into the canal while using her mobile phone.

A GMP spokesman said:” There was a large Police, Fire and Ambulance response to an incident at Sale Town Centre overnight after a woman fell into the canal and got into difficulties. She is believed to have fallen into the canal while using her mobile phone.”

Police were first on scene and pulled her from the water.

The spokesman added:”Glad to report she is safe and well after receiving medical support from Fire Crews and Paramedics”

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
