Trafford Council is making £120,000 available to residents and community groups through its new Inclusive Neighbourhoods Grant scheme.

The grants will support residents to put on an event or deliver a project that brings people together, is resident led, improves a local asset or showcases community strengths.

The scheme will run throughout 2019, enabling people to apply at any time throughout the year.

Grants will come in two sizes – up to £500 for events and up to £2,000 for projects. Activities that bring different people together, across faith, generations, places or diversity, that integrate residents and strengthen cohesion will be prioritised. All projects must benefit Trafford residents.

Cllr Catherine Hynes, Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Equalities and Partnerships, said: “Our local communities are strong, diverse and inclusive and we want to help them as best we can. We want residents to continue to be proud of where they live and be active in their local community, and these grants can help them do exactly that..

“We are particularly interested in events and projects that support health and wellbeing, make places safer or improve the local environment. We are also looking to support our diverse communities, who come together across geographic areas such as our LGBT, Disability and BME communities.”

£20,000 will be released every two months. The closing dates for each period will be: 31st January, 31st March, 31st May, 30th July, 30th September and 30th November

The grants will be awarded by a cross-party panel of councillors from across the borough.
