Dianne Oxberry died after a short battle with ovarian cancer her husband has revealed.

The news of her death shocked thousands of people in the North West, especially in the close-knit community of Sale where Dianne lived for several years. Her husband  Ian Hindle has set up a JustGiving page in Dianne’s name to raise awareness of this ‘appalling disease”.

Dianne Oxberry died, aged 51, earlier this month.

Mr Hindle said: “Dianne died after a very short battle with ovarian cancer.

“The tragic impact was felt not only by her family and friends, but also by the wider public whose lives she touched across more than 20 years’ TV and radio presenting.

“The money raised will be used to help families and individuals who have, or are suffering from, this aggressive disease.

“The aim is also to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and its after-effects, particularly where families have suffered sudden loss…which can often be the case with this appalling disease.”

To donate visit  justgiving.com/crowdfunding/dianneoxberry?utm_id=66&utm_term=jqrKr9JbE online.  The page had already raised over £5,000 by early afternoon today – five times more than it’s original target of £1,000.
