Police warning over a scam call in the Sale area

Police are warning about a scam call affecting people in the Sale Today area.

A police spokesman said: ‘A man claiming to from BT rings to say that your BT phone line and internet are about to be switched off if you do not respond immediately. You are then asked to press 2 on your phone which takes you through to someone who will then ask for bank details to take a card payment over the phone.

“This is a SCAM – BT will never cold call and ask for payment in this way. Trading Standards advice is never to give personal of financial information to cold callers of any type.

Report to actionfraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk or call them on 0300 123 2040.’

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:
