Women rescued after car goes into Sale Water Park

Awoman was rescued by a team of specialist water unit police officers after a car was driven into Sale Water Park.

The incident occurred at 9.15 pm last night.

The woman, thought to be in her early forties, was dragged from the lake after driving into the water at Rifle Road,

She was treated by paramedics at the scene and later admitted to hospital,

She was later detained under the Mental Health Act.

WALTON PARK WIMPY MEMORIAL: A new war memorial has been unveiled in Walton Park, to commemorate the aircrew who crash-landed there on the third of August 1943, killing two Australian airmen.

The memorial reads:

In honour of the allied airmen whose aircraft crashed on this site 3rd August 1943
