vThe Just Giving page set up by the Dianne Oxberry Trust has now raised nearly £111,000 in funds.. The Trust hope it will reach the £150,000 target by the end of the year.

The news comes as roses grown in memory of  Dianne  are on display at Walkden Gardens in Sale.

The Florida Sunset Rose was first exhibited in the Sunshine Garden at the RHS Tatton Show and aims to raise cash for the charity that was set up in memory of the popular presenter who died from ovarian cancer in January.  A total of £1 from each sale of the rose will go to the Dianne Oxberry Trust.

The Friends of Walkden Gardens are delighted that some of the roses have been donated to them and Chairman, Susan Hirst, said: “Dianne Oxberry was a regular visitor to Walkden Gardens and we are grateful to the trustees for the donation. The Florida Sunset roses have now been planted by the volunteers to be enjoyed by all our visitors.”

Cllr Jane Baugh, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, said: “I hope when they see this rose, visitors will be inspired to buy them and support the important work carried out by the charity set up in memory of this much-loved TV presenter.”

Friends of Walkden Gardens have just been informed that the gardens have received the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for recognition of five consecutive years of consistently high ratings from travellers. Walkden Gardens is open from 9am to 4.30pm in the winter and 9am to 7pm in the summer.
