Venezia brings a true taste of Italy to Sale

Kind-hearted Italian restaurant owner Albi Zeme has shown a heart of gold during the coronavirus pandemic.

After donating pizzas to staff at Wythenshawe Hospital, he provided free Sunday lunches for NHS workers and the elderly.

Albi, who runs Venezia Restaurant on Washway Road, Sale, said: “I was more than happy to help out and it’s a day I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

“I had to do it because we’re all going through a hard time and away from our families. I’ve been overwhelmed by the messages and nice comments people have made which has been so kind of them.”

His gesture earned widespread praise on social media and the quality of takeaways coming from his kitchen during the lockdown have also been getting rave reviews.

“I felt like I was eating a nice meal out at a time when we obviously can’t. All the food travelled home well and was hot and fresh. The meaty spare ribs were the highlight, the meat falling off the bone. The sauce was a really tasty barbecue and orange flavour and great for dipping garlic bread.

The calamari was cooked to perfection in a rich tomato sauce while the meatballs were chunky and prepared in a lovely tomato sauce, topped with plenty of cheese to add that bit extra. The garlic bread – half-and-half tomato and cheese – had a great crunch and flavour. It was the perfect Italian dish and would give any restaurant a run for their money. The pizza, a house speciality, had a lovely crispy base with plenty of meat and a nice kick from the chilli.”
