H e is Sale’s most popular musical entertainer at the moment – singer Martin Davidson has become a local celebrity belting out classics for all ages.
From Baby Shark to Bill Withers. From Brooklands to Broad Road.
Due to popular demand Martin, who lives in Ashton-on-Mersey, is always on tour, answering requests and lifting spirits during lockdown.
He averages five gigs a day while he is furloughed from his job as a regional manager for a car valeting company.
He appeared at seven street parties on VE Day, setting up his equipment and playing his guitar while singing hits from different eras.
Martin, who has three daughters Esme (5), Penny (3) and Heidi (1), is enjoying his moment in the spotlight having received acclaim on social media for his efforts.
He said: “I’m trying to spread as much love and happiness as I can and when I see the smiles on faces it makes such a difference. I want my kids to look back in 20 or 30 years and be proud of what their dad did during lockdown.
“When I was a kid I wanted to be in a band like Oasis but I wasn’t good enough. Everyone has been so welcoming and I feel like a little celebrity.
“I play around five songs on each set – anything from Baby Shark and Wheels on the Bus for four-year-olds to Ben E. King and Bob Dylan classics for the older generation. It all started in my back garden when I dedicated songs to the NHS and key workers.”
Martin plans a reunion soon with the Superheroes of Sale who have also been strutting their stuff around the town entertaining children in their costumes.
