Stockdales invites Sale to a tea party at home as it seeks Covid-19 help

B ring out your best tea set or mug, bake a delicious cake and support one of Sale’s oldest and best-loved charities Stockdales.

The charity is inviting the town’s residents to hold a vintage tea party in the comfort of their own homes on Sunday, June 14.

It hopes the public will donate the cost of a cafe outing to the charity to help it cope with a loss of fundraising revenue from Covid-19.

Stockdales supports adults and children with learning disabilities and life-limiting conditions who need intensive help.

Its main site is on Harboro Road and there are also four residential homes in Sale which have continued to operate during the coronavirus pandemic. Telephone and online support has been provided to children and adults but group sessions have been suspended.

The charity, founded by Lil Stockdale, had its original base at Pictor House next to its current home.

Emma Morris, CEO of Stockdales, said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who’s offered us their good wishes and support. We can’t thank you enough for your kindness.

“A special thanks also to our wonderful staff team who’re keeping everyone we support safe, upbeat and occupied. This time of year usually sees the start of lots of events and activities for Stockdales and the many sponsored challenges people do for us.

“Unfortunately, we’ve had to cancel our Tea Party and Golf Day and these raise vital funds for the charity. We’re hoping people will help us by holding their own tea parties this year to raise money for us.”
